FST Expands Cape Office on Main Street, Hyannis

July 23, 2014

Fay, Spofford & Thorndike – the 100-year-old firm that designed the Bourne and Sagamore Bridges, Cape Cod Rail Trail and Sagamore Flyover, to name a few of its many Cape projects – has expanded its existing office at 146 Main Street in Hyannis.

The expansion allows the firm to better serve its clients on the Cape and Islands, while opening new business development opportunities in the area. Kevin Klein, P.E., an Associate with the firm, is the new office manager. He was previously with Norfolk Ram Group of Plymouth, which merged into FST in March 2014.

The company plans an Open House to celebrate the newly expanded office on Wednesday, August 20, 2014.

"This expansion more than doubles our space in Hyannis and adds some exceptional technical abilities to our Cape Cod office," says Peter Howe, P.E., FST President and CEO. "We have a long and prominent history on the Cape and we plan to continue focusing on innovative design solutions for our public-sector and private-sector clients in the region. The expansion of the Hyannis Office is another strategic step that we are taking to improve the work-life balance for our employees who live on the Cape, as it reduces their commute significantly."

In addition to the full-time staff of local engineers and hydrogeologists, the Hyannis office will feature open seating areas for other FST staff visiting or working on the Cape.

Klein, a resident of Sandwich, relishes the challenge of growing the 100-year-old firm’s Cape Cod presence and client base. "The Cape is my home and I have a strong sense of the local needs that an engineering, planning and environmental consulting company like ours can fill. I look forward to showing the Cape what a great firm FST is, and doing my small part to help improve the quality of life for the Cape’s residents, visitors and businesses."

The expansion occurred officially on July 21. It coincides with the dual centennial celebrations of the founding of FST and the opening of the Cape Cod Canal in 1914.

The phone number of FST’s Hyannis office is 508.815.2040.
