About this ProjectUnder a "House Doctor" contract with UMass Lowell, FST provided improvements to the existing standpipe system and connections to proposed and anticipated sprinkler systems to the various floors in the O'Leary Library.
Work began with an evaluation of the standpipe system (a dry system), and of the interconnect to the fire alarm system. FST reviewed the fire alarm system, fire alarm test reports, etc. to ascertain the extent to which the system complies with current Code requirements. The system's connection to a proposed project by others on the 1st to 4th floors should allow for a phased sprinkler implementation program over time. FST scope also included evaluating signage as required by code and as needed to address the proposed phased sprinkler implementation
FST is also responsible for complete design of the new fire protection system.
