Parking Garages Projects:
Other Buildings/MEP Projects
About this Project
The Massachusetts Port Authority hired FST to design a new 1,100-space precast concrete parking garage for the existing Logan Express site in Framingham, MA.
FST reviewed site layouts, passenger convenience, and impacts to area traffic to assist Massport in making the ultimate decision to maintain operations at the existing site. FST developed numerous concept layouts for the garage, considering the ideal footprint for the small site, and most efficient bay sizes while optimizing vehicle and passenger circulation. A new terminal building will be sited on the ground level within the footprint of the garage. FST’s team participated in programming meetings with Massport to identify all spaces required for the new terminal building. The garage, terminal building, and site layout were fine-tuned with efficiency and safety as priorities.
The project required the filing of an Environmental Notifcation Form and a Notice of Intent for issues related to the increased permenant parking at the site, use of termporary off-site parking during construction, and wetlands on/adjacent to the property. To support permitting of the project, FST's team surveyed adjacent wetlands, performed traffic analysis, prepared a traffic impact study, and prepared the forms, report and plans required for filing. FST also performed a solar shading study to determine if the proposed garage would shade the photovoltaic panels at the adjacent REI site.
