About this Project
Since 2001, Fay, Spofford & Thorndike (formerly operating as DeLuca-Hoffman Associates, Inc.) has provided engineering and permitting assistance to Mercy Hospital for their proposed Hospital Campus relocation to the Fore River Site. The firm has worked with Mercy, its architects, and planners to formulate a Master Plan and to obtain Final local and state approvals prior to construction. The $80 million Phase 1 aspect of the project was completed in 2008. FST continues to assist the Hospital on their Phase 2 proposal to continue their full relocation to the Fore River Campus.
Mercy Hospital proposes to relocate its hospital facilities to a 35-acre property off the Fore River on the Portland Peninsula’s west side. The Master Plan envisions a medical campus with a new hospital, medical offices, and supporting services. In excess of 400,000 square feet of multi-story building space is proposed with attendant surface and structured parking facilities contemplated for the project. New utilities infrastructure and landscape planning are also integral aspects of the work. The firm was instrumental in developing permitting documents that garnered approval to overcome limitations associated with an approximately three-acre natural resource area on the site. The future phase activities will undergo State Conservation Approval in 2015 and construction is scheduled to commence in early 2016 with Phase 2 completion by 2018.
