About this Project
FST completed the design and construction services for a multi-faceted water system improvement program, including a residential meter installation program, pump station modifications and improvements, wellfield piping improvements, and a hydrogeological Zone II study of the Cheshire Harbor Wellfield. This work was done so the Adams Fire District (AFD) could maximize the groundwater withdrawal at this well supply.
Well Pump Station #2A was rebuilt to house an 800 gpm pump to meet the system’s demand. All the electrical and mechanical equipment was also rebuilt.
The AFD was ready to bring on-line its newly constructed 2.0 million gallon water storage tank. In order to maintain the present level of water production, it was necessary to increase the pump head at Well Pump Station #3.
Over 4,000 feet of 12-, 16- and 20-inch water mains was installed within the Cheshire Harbor Wellfield to upgrade the existing piping in order to maximize the available water coming from the upgrades Well Pump Stations #2A and #3.
The AFD began a two-year residential meter installation program to install meters on all un-metered residential services and repair or replace all existing industrial and commercial meters. This meter program was part of the AFD’s Water Conservation Plan, and was mandated by the Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Water Management Act. The AFD had to comply with this in order to request any future increases in their water withdrawal permit from the DEP.
