Stantec shortlisted in four categories at the Eastern Echo Awards

05/26/2023 UNITED KINGDOM TSX, NYSE:STN

Stantec, a global leader in sustainable engineering and design, has been shortlisted in four categories, including Best Architect and Best Planning Consultant, at the 2023 Eastern Echo awards.

Stantec is included in the shortlist for Best Architect for its work with Peterborough County Council and ARU on the Peterborough Embankment Masterplan. The award celebrates exceptional architecture that surpasses today’s rigorous standards and client expectations.

Peterborough City Council wanted to transform the riverside embankment close to the city centre into a new city gateway and destination for residents. Leading this once-in-a-generation riverside transformation, Stantec’s integrated team of planners, designers, and engineers delivered a community-focused masterplan. By engaging with the community and key stakeholders, the masterplan enhances connectivity, green space, and river access, creating valuable community facilities that support tourism and the local economy.

In the Best Planning Consultant category, which recognises consultancies that have provided exemplary support and guidance to public and private clients, Stantec is shortlisted for helping to re-write the story on street design with Suffolk County Council.

Local authorities often have dedicated highway design guides for developers to use when designing streets. Suffolk County Council’s guide, originally drafted in 1993, needed an update and they asked Stantec to help. The previous guide focused almost exclusively on car traffic and drivers so Stantec developed a new methodology to identify a user-first approach leading to a brand new Suffolk Design Streets Guide that prioritises those who use streets the most. Read the Suffolk Street Design Guide here: Suffolk Design: Streets Guide - Suffolk County Council.

Stantec has also been shortlisted in the ‘Deal of the Year’ and ‘Team of the Year’ categories.

Deal of the Year showcases a transaction that has changed the course of a business and directly influenced success in the regional market. Stantec’s 2022 acquisition of Barton Willmore, a leading planning and design consulting firm, has been named among the shortlisted deals.

Barton Willmore, now Stantec has over 300 town planners, master planners, urban and landscape designers, architects, and environmental planners in regional teams throughout the UK. They join Stantec’s growing team as the company strengthens its project delivery expertise and enhances its ability to drive innovative solutions for clients across the UK and Ireland.

The Eastern Echo Awards focus on projects, people, and places located across the East of England. The award ceremony will be held at Homerton College in Cambridge on 28 June and will bring together more than 250 people to celebrate the best achievements from the property sector in the region. You can find out more about the event here: CamPropFest - UK Property Forums.
